We make VR travel films that play on all of these headsets, so we see the difference every day. The short answer first, then each headset: how our films play on it, what it weighs and how long it lasts. Our trailer plays in any of their browsers with no account.
From each maker's own pages. Prices are the maker's US store on 13 October 2026, for the smallest storage.

Pack it in your carry-on. In the US the FAA says spare batteries and power banks travel in the cabin only, at up to 100 Wh each without the airline's approval, and airlines can set stricter limits. Quest 3, 3S and Quest 2 have a travel mode for planes and trains, never cars; Vision Pro's Travel Mode covers planes, trains, buses and the back seat of a car. For our films the difference is downloads: on Vision Pro you can download films before you go, while on a Quest or Galaxy XR they stream, so you need Wi-Fi where you watch.
For our films, Apple Vision Pro gives the best picture, because there they play in our native app rather than a browser, and you can download them. For most people we suggest the Meta Quest 3: our films stream to it in up to 8K 3D, its pancake lenses keep the picture sharp across the view, and it costs a fraction of a Vision Pro.
Yes. It plays the same films with the same player as a Quest 3. Its Fresnel lenses have a smaller sharp area in the middle of the view, so fitting the headset well matters more, and the picture is softer toward the edges.
For our films, Apple Vision Pro: you can download films before you fly, and its Travel Mode is made for planes. Quest 3, 3S and Quest 2 have a travel mode for planes and trains too, but on a Quest our films stream, so you need the plane's Wi-Fi.
On Apple Vision Pro, yes: our app, from the App Store. On Meta Quest and Samsung Galaxy XR, no: open explorepov.com in the headset's browser and tap Enter VR.
Meta no longer sells either. If you already have one, our films play on both in the Quest browser. If you are buying, the Quest 3 or 3S is what Meta sells now.
