Guardians of Tamatea
Story · Adventure · 10 minVR180 3D
Tamatea / Dusky Sound is a fiord about 40 kilometres long on the remote southwest coast of Fiordland, New Zealand. Maria and Seán take you aboard their boat, Flightless, as they work to protect the sound's ecosystems through predator control and restoration. Conservation here goes back to the 1890s, when Richard Henry moved kākāpō and kiwi to Resolution Island to keep them safe from predators.

An adventurous coast experience in New Zealand, moving through the scene as if you are walking it yourself, running 10 min in immersive VR180.
New Zealand is home to Aoraki / Mount Cook and Southern Alps. Every experience here is filmed on location in resolutions up to 16K.
Watch natively on Apple Vision Pro, or in the browser on Meta Quest, Pico, and Samsung Galaxy XR.
What to expect
The camera travels through the scene for the full 10 min, so the view opens and changes around you rather than waiting for you to look. Give yourself a moment to settle before you start turning your head.
It is filmed in stereoscopic VR180, which means depth is real: near things sit close, far things stay far, and the coastline reads at proper scale instead of flattening onto a screen. Look up, look to the edges of the frame, and take your time. There is nothing to steer and nothing to learn.
We tag this one adventurous, and it sits in New Zealand alongside the rest of what we have filmed there. Create an account to watch this one in full.
